But the funny thing about you is you've got some pretty well-developed relationships considering how poorly developed your character is.

Takumi Aiba (Ami Aiba if chosen to be female) is the main protagonist of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and its Manga adaptation.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Takumi lived with his parents prior to the events of Prologue: EDEN, though they had to leave on business duties, leaving Takumi to live by himself throughout the course of Cyber Sleuth. His mother frequently checks up on Takumi to make sure he's safe and happy and the two appear to have a loving relationship. Very little of Takumi's father is known.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Although being a largely silent hero, Takumi expresses a well-developed personality.

Takumi is best described as good-natured. He's kind, selfless, heroic, brave, affable, friendly and a little goofy. He acts almost like a "cool big brother" type to those younger than him, which is further supported by his playful and fun personality. He bonds well with others, almost everyone he comes into contact with considers him a friend, and those who don't typically come around to respect him. Takumi is extremely compassionate and will extend a helping hand to even his bitter enemies. Despite his good nature, Takumi is not one to mess with. Although he's truly caring and empathetic, he isn't a pushover and will resort to physical violence - or at least the threat of it - if he has too, such as when he threatened to beat up a group of nerds who kept harassing a girl. Likewise, he had to beat some sense into Arata by engaging in a fist fight with him.

Takumi comes off as simpleminded or even idiotic at times, but that isn't necessarily the case. While he isn't as tech-savvy as Arata, Takumi is a capable user of modern technology and seems to be very "with the times". He's shown to be competent at almost everything he does and excels in the arts of food critique and eventually becomes a fantastic detective, one skilled enough to break into major corporations and get out mostly unscathed. Although reasonably intelligent, Takumi can be forgetful and absentminded, such as when he forgot to protect a little girl he befriended, almost resulting in her death. These instances are few and far between and usually only occur with Takumi is particularly stressed or tired.

Takumi is shown to be an independent young man. Although his parents are loving and caring, they're extremely busy and often times out of Japan on duty, leaving Takumi to live alone. Despite only being a teenager in high school, Takumi appears to get by wonderfully alone.

Takumi treats his Digimon as friends and seems to care deeply for each and every one of them. He treats him almost like how a loving parent or sibling would treat their children or younger siblings; with lots of care and support, but will scold them when they do something wrong. He is a fair, if somewhat lenient caregiver but has nonetheless developed genuine bonds wit his partner Digimon; so much to the point where they periodically want to show how much they care about him in the form of gifts.

Takumi doesn't seem to have much interest in pop-culture. He seems to greatly dislike Jimmy KEN's music and doesn't appear to read much manga, given his conversations with Arata.
